Lifting stones
There are many tales of the strength and skill of the Canarian aborigines in lifting heavy stones but it was only after the conquest that this practice developed more precise techniques. The techniques most commonly practised are lifting stones as high as possible, lifting them onto your shoulders and then throwing them as far as possible forwards or backwards, holding them to your chest and walking as far as possible or lifting them without letting them touch your body. These days this sport is becoming less popular.
