Canarian Long-eared Bat
Endemic bat found in farming areas and high mountain areas
The Canarian Long-eared Bat is endemic to the Canary Islands. This bat belongs to one of the seven species of bat found in the Canaries which live in pine forests, farmlands, ravines and on high mountains - they can be found in Las Cañadas del Teide. They are also present in the districts of La Matanza, la Orotava, Vilaflor, Guia de Isora and San Juan de la Rambla, amongst others. They shelter in volcanic tubes where they gather to rest during the day, often in large numbers. They also use galleries and other underground formations.
