Candelaria Carnival
Festival located in Tenerife South
The town of Candelaria, in the south of Tenerife, holds its carnival the week after those in Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz. The large square in front of the Basilica of the "Virgen de Candelaria" is the main stage for these fiestas and where galas for the election of the carnival queen for children and adults and the regional "murgas" (comic groups) events are held. Although this carnival is less busy than the one in the capital of the island, the local people celebrate it with the same enthusiasm.
