Tenerife

The Fiestas of the Holy Cross, in the northern district of Los Realejos, are over three centuries old. During the fiestas the town is virtually covered by over 300 crosses made by the local people. Another popular event is the firework competition between two streets "Medio de Arriba" and "del Sol" in the town. On the night of the 3rd of May the rivalry between these two streets makes this three-hour firework show the most spectacular in the Canary Islands.

There are also other events involving typical Canarian cuisine, a "flower battle" from decorated cars and many others which go on throughout May.
