At the Parque del Drago you will be able to contemplate one of the most ancient living things on this planet: The Drago Milenario, of an age that is debatable by the scientific community. This superb tree, is one of Tenerife's emblems and is surrounded by a park, which is over 3 acres in size, from where you can observe more than one thousand different species of flowers originating from the different microclimate areas of the island, which grow from the coast to the height of the mountains.
The Drago Milenario has been a national monument since 1917 and together with the Teide, it is one of the most highly represented symbols of the Canary Islands. Its picture appears in a number of books on art and of a picturesque nature, it has appeared on 1000 peseta notes and on stamps.
You can get to the Parque del Drago by contacting your travel agent or by going to the area of Los Vinos, either by car, by bus on public transport, from either Puerto de la Cruz, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas to name but a few.
The taxis at Puerto de la Cruz can arrange reasonable prices for park excursions.
