Sport fishing
The rich and abundant marine life in Canarian waters have a great deal to offer fans of sport fishing, the most famous of which is the Blue Marlin. This great fish, also known as a billfish, can weigh more than 600 kilograms and catching one involves skill and a lot of excitement. Besides the Blue Marlin there are many other large species that can be found around the coast of Tenerife that are great fun to catch, for example tuna, swordfish, mako and parrotfish.

There are a number of companies that offer everything you need to go sport fishing on the high sea. These can be found in marinas and fishing harbours around the island.  When fishing from the coast, the best thing to do is to follow the example of the local fishermen who have acquired their knowledge of the sea over many generations. The main species are sole, barracudas, snappers, and one of the most popular Canarian fishes, the "vieja" (sea bream).
