Tenerife Fire Perimetre-August Update

Tenerife 13 August 2012

The fire which broke out in Tenerife on Friday 10 August and affected the municipalities of
El Tanque, Los Silos, Buenavista del Norte and Santiago del Teide, is now under control and
limited to a sector of the mountains in the upper part of these locations. The wildfire does not
affect in any way holiday resorts or any inhabited areas on the island, located mostly on the
coast.

The fire has so far affected 369 hectares although the favorable situation has meant that the
roads have been reopened to traffic. The TF-373 road (San Jose de Los Llanos-Erjos) is now
open as well as the TF-82 (Icod de Los Vinos, Santiago del Teide from kilometre 17.5 to 21.5)
and FT-436 (Buenavista del Norte-Santiago del Teide from kilometre 10.3).

The general public – local population and tourists – are strongly recommended to avoid the
fire vicinity in order to facilitate the extinction work. The following Titsa bus lines are also now
operative:

  • 460 Icod to Costa Adeje and
  • 325 Puerto de la Cruz to Los Gigantes .

The fire has been cordoned off in a specific geographic area, which means that all of the
island‘s infrastructure is working smoothly, including the holiday attractions as well as tourist
and leisure facilities.

The lighting of fires in recreational areas, burning clippings and bonfires are all strictly
forbidden.
