Montaña Roja and Montaña Pelada
Natural areas located in the south of Tenerife
The Montaña Roja Nature Reserve, close to the tourist resort of El Médano, consists of a highly eroded volcanic cone next to the sea. What makes this place, located between El Médano and La Tejita beaches, of great natural interest are the numerous seabirds that nest here, some of which are in danger of extinction. Montaña Pelada is another volcanic cone nearby that is partly in the sea and makes up another protected natural area.
