Tacoronte - Acentejo

D.O. Tacoronte-Acentejo wines are not only born in a stunning landscape in northern Tenerife, but they are also blessed with the influence of the Atlantic due to their proximity to the coast. The terrain is uneven, leading vine growers to build farm terraces as high up as 1,000 m (3,280 ft) above sea level. Tacoronte-Acentejo wines owe their renown largely to their aromatic hues and fruitiness. The reds here are particularly noteworthy, accounting for 80% of the area's production, but its whites and young rosés are certainly not to be frowned upon. Tacoronte-Acentejo reds are bright in colour, with cherry and pomegranate tones. With hints of fruit, they convey clean sensations and a well-balanced palate. Its white wines have a mildly balsamic bouquet and a long-lasting after-taste, whilst its sparkling rosés are sweeter, with acid touches. Variants include the Tacoronte-Acentejo, made of overripe grapes, which is intense and naturally sweet.
