Chain fern

A species of plant growing in the humid laurel forests

The humidity that reigns in Tenerife's laurel forests creates the ideal habitat for the chain fern (Woodwardia radicans), a type of fern that lays a green carpet over the ground between the trees in Anaga Country Park, in north-eastern Tenerife. Its huge leaves can grow up to 2 m (6.5 ft) long, covering the ground and giving the laurel forests it inhabits a jungle-like appearance which you will see on a variety of routes and trails.
