Government

Every four years, Tenerife's residents hold democratic elections to choose who they want to represent them in the municipal, local and regional institutions: town and city councils, the Canarian Parliament and Tenerife Council. Tenerife's Council is the senior government body on the Island and is responsible for much of the Island's management and representation. The Canarian Government and the Spanish Government also exercise political power over Tenerife.
