Tenerife is the setting for this production from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures
During May and June 2009, the Island was the stage for the Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures super-production, “Clash of the Titans”, directed by Louis Leterrier.
Mount Teide National Park and the coast of the boroughs of Icod, Buenavista del Norte and Guía de Isora, as well as a few areas of pinewoods and brush were the locations chosen for their natural beauty and their diversity. .
The local company, Sur Film Production & Services, was responsible for managing all the production services on the island.
The film is directed by Louis Leterrier, who was also responsible for “The Incredible Hulk” and “Danny the Dog”. Apart from Liam Neeson (“Schindler’s List”) and Ralph Fiennes (“The English Patient”), the film will include the performance of Sam Worthington (“Terminator Salvation”) as the protagonist, Perseus, and Gemma Arterton (“Quantum of Solace). The cast of leading actors is completed with Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale”) and Jason Flemyng (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”). The producers of the film are Basil Iwanyk (“We are Marshall”) and Kevin De La Noy (“The Dark Knight” –the latest instalment of Batman-), while the executive producer is Richard Zanuck (“Yes Man”), together with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and William Fay (from the production company, Legendary Pictures, whose latest work includes the highly successful “300”).
“Clash of the Titans” is an epic story full of adventures which tells of the struggle between men, kings and the Gods. Based on the feature film with the same title that was released in 1981, it tells the story and the fortunes of Perseus in his efforts to save the Princess Andromeda. It is due to be released in 2010.
Altogether three departments of the Cabildo, or Island Authority, have been involved, Tourism, the Environment and Roads, as well as the Canary Islands Government and the National Parks Agency.
