One of the regular and most highly-recommended trips from the south of Tenerife is to Puerto de la Cruz, a beautiful tourist town set in the Orotava Valley, in the north of the island. There are many reasons for visiting this town; the main one being the chance to go to Loro Parque, Spain's number one wildlife park. Puerto de la Cruz also offers many other interesting places to visit such as the Complejo Martiánez, a stunning complex of seawater swimming pools and one of the biggest tourist attractions on Tenerife.
Other places to visit include: Jardín Beach, designed by the Canarian artist César Manrique, who also designed the Complejo Martiánez, the historical and exotic Botanical Gardens and of course the town itself, with its historic centre, popular Plaza de Charco, and pleasant seafront walk of San Telmo y Colón. All these places make for a perfect day out.
