Rondallas

The rondallas are a genre in their own right and are exclusive to Santa Cruz de Tenerife's Carnival. These lyrical-musical groups play classical songs by a variety of acclaimed composers, accompanied by plucked string instruments. In no other carnival on Earth does so-called "cultured" music play such a key role as it does here, with thousands of fans and followers supporting these groups during very close competitions.
