Shopping in Tenerife

Not only December is a wonderful month to go shopping in Tenerife. But now the streets, cities and shopping centres are festooned with Christmas lights until January, because in Spain they traditionally give and receive presents on the Three King’s Day, on January 6th, and not on Christmas Day. However, we will give you some ideas where to go shopping in Tenerife, whenever you are here.

Shopping in the capital Santa Cruz and in the World Heritage Site San Cristóbal de La Laguna

The two communities of the metropolis of the island have a long Christmas tradition, with many activities and places you can visit during your visit. If you stroll through San Cristóbal de La Laguna, you can enjoy a magical atmosphere in the streets, especially in the streets Calle Herradores and Obispo Rey Redondo. If you want to walk a little further, you can also visit the market in La Laguna at the Plaza del Cristo, right in the historic centre of the city.

Are you spending your family vacation with children on the Canary Island? Then the El Corte Inglés Shopping Centre in Santa Cruz is a good choice, because there really is something for everyone. There is also the street market with unique and original goods. In Santa Cruz, the flea market takes place every Sunday morning around the street José Manuel Guimerá.

Nearby is also the new and renovated Nivaria Center, with a wide range of fashion and electronics for technology fans, as well as free Wi-Fi, right in the centre of Santa Cruz. The Meridiano Shopping Centre is also a meeting point for shopping fans in Santa Cruz, with a large terrace to relax after a busy day. If you prefer exploring one of the city’s most commercial streets and small shops, Calle del Castillo should be on your list.

Shopping in the south of the island

In the south of Tenerife you also have countless possibilities to go shopping. If you are in Adeje in the Plaza del Duque shopping centre, you will find a wide selection of fashion, jewelry, accessories and many other first-class products distributed in 62 shops with 400 different brands. Then there is the Siam Mall, which always organises events with raffles, concerts, parades and many more activities for adults and children.

Nearby is also the municipality of Arona, where you will find the shopping centre Parque Santiago 6, with an area for the little ones and a nice terrace for rest and free wifi.

La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz, walk and shop in the north of Tenerife

In the municipality of La Orotava, apart of going shopping, you can marvel at a life-sized nativity scene at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Even if you go to the Casa de los Balcones, you will see a great example of traditional Canarian architecture, considered a masterpiece of craftsmanship. In the shop you can find many typical products of the Canary Islands.

In Puerto de la Cruz you can spend a shopping day with a gentle sea breeze. Stroll through San Telmo or visit the historic district of La Ranilla with its small shops and original and handmade gifts. In addition, you can also visit the Christmas Fair, which is open until January 15th, 2018.
