You may have wondered which are the best family beaches in Tenerife. First of all, there are some requirements that a family-friendly beach should fulfill: a place to have fun, safe and easily accessible, kiosks or restaurants, toilets… No problem! We suggest you some of the best beaches in Tenerife, so you can spend with your children extensive and most of all unforgettable beach days.
Beach Playa Las Teresitas
It is THE beach that is often used to promote the island by tour operators, airlines, etc… It’s the typical postcard motif of Tenerife (next to Mount Teide). The beach is located very close to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of Tenerife and it is quite easy to get here. You can take the bus, the TITSA line 910, or even go by bike along the coast. But most of you probably travel by car. You do not have to worry about parking as there is a large parking lot directly behind the beach.
The beach has a golden fine sand and thanks to the breakwater, there is hardly any waves. About 1,300 metres long, it’s the perfect place to relax, walk or build castles in the sand. It has the Blue Flag, which guarantees water quality and services (Red Cross, toilets, changing rooms, sun loungers, parasols, children’s area, kiosks…). A good choice if you are in the metropolitan area of Tenerife!
Beach Playa La Arena
More than 20 years in a row achieving the distinctive Blue Flag make this beach very popular to both, our visitors and the local people.
It has all the services you need, including loungers, restaurants nearby, a tourist office and even an area for diving and snorkelling with an interesting underwater world.
If you plan to stay until the afternoon, then it is worthwhile to watch the sunset – a great experience when the sun sinks into the sea overlooking the neighboring island of La Gomera.
Beach Playa El Camisón
Let’s visit this Blue Flag beach in the municipality of Arona. It is very centrally located and a variety of leisure options are offered.
From sun loungers for relaxing sunbathing to fun boat trips, El Camisón beach offers many activities that will fascinate the little ones.
Try Stand Up Paddling (SUP). It’s a simpler way of surfing, standing on a board with the help of a paddle and moving forward. Don’t worry about the waves. The two breakwaters keep the tides calm.
Beach Playa Jardín
From the south of the island we drive directly to the north. We go to the beach Playa Jardín, which is also awarded with the Blue Flag. Located in the tourist town of Puerto de la Cruz, you can easily walk from the city centre (and have a look at the works of Puerto Street Art).
Playa Jardín is a complex of three small beaches whose surroundings were designed by the Canarian artist César Manrique. The beach is lined with gardens, playgrounds, terraces and cafes. That is why it’s called “Playa Jardín” (beach of the garden). Oh yes, and Loro Parque is very close, so you could combine your visit right away.
Beach Playa Fañabé
The last beach we present you today takes us back to the south, more specifically to Fañabé, which has a fun paradise for the little ones: inflatable castles in the water, jet skis, parascending, inflatable banana boats…
For the parents there are also Balinese beds, beach bars and hammocks for resting. It is a very accessible beach with plenty of parking nearby.
Seawater pool of Bajamar
From the south, it goes straight back to the north to Bajamar. There are seawater pools (and a nearby beach), which are very popular with families. Maybe you already know La Laguna and its historical and cultural heritage, but of course its coastline is also worth a visit. Particularly impressive are the months of September and October, when the “Mareas del Pino“ waves break on the coast.
