Public Television and Animation

In parallel to the Forum, the Quirino Awards will provide the framework for two professional events that will focus on public television stations and their role in the development of animation projects, as well as on different cross-border cooperation mechanisms.

After the positive experience of the first meeting held in 2022, the Quirino Awards will once again bring together a group of Ibero-American public television stations in San Cristóbal de La Laguna to reflect on their programming, acquisition, and co-production policies for animated content. Representatives from Pakapaka (Argentina), TVN Chile (Chile), RTP (Portugal), Canal Once (Mexico), Canal Capital (Colombia), and Canal IPE (Peru) will attend the second edition of this meeting organized in collaboration with Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE).

Thanks to its international scope, the Quirino will also host the meeting of the working group on animation of the European public television stations. Organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) with the collaboration of RTVE, this meeting will be attended by representatives of RAI KIDS (Italy), YLE (Finland), RTP (Portugal), RTK (Kosovo), TRM (Moldova), RTVSLO (Slovenia), LTV (Latvia), LRT (Lithuania), and ERR (Estonia). The meeting will also serve as a prelude to a meeting between Ibero-American and European public broadcasters to promote the circulation of animated content in both regions. The activities will take place on May 10 and 11.
