In Tenerife there are many great places, as we have already shown you in the last blog post<\/a><\/span>. Since the island has always been a centre of commerce and exchange of international culture, it influenced on the development of our archipelago. Today you can still find traces and legacies of that time. Centuries of history, architecture, contemporary and classic artworks characterise the historic quarters<\/a><\/span>. Let’s go on an expedition, because today we introduce you to some of these beautiful must-see places.<\/span><\/p>\n

Historic District of La Laguna<\/span><\/h2>\n

It is actually a must to start our list with the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The historic centre of La Laguna<\/span> is one of the most visited in Tenerife. On the one hand because of the special atmosphere that is breathed in its streets and on the other hand because of its monuments, churches and cozy corners. Visit the site or simply enjoy the “La Laguna vibes\u201c of the university city, open to culture, commerce and arts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of the island<\/span><\/h2>\n

A cosmopolitan city<\/span><\/a> where avant-garde and history go hand in hand to create unique urban spaces. A good example is the Auditorium of Tenerife<\/span><\/a>, a modern landmark of the city that is located just a few metres from the historic Castillo de San Crist\u00f3bal, popularly known as Castillo Negro. Definitely added to your visit to the capital must be the large parks such as Garc\u00eda Sanabria<\/span><\/a>, Palmetum or the iconic beach Playa Las Teresitas. La Orotava, a large municipality<\/span><\/h2>\n

Welcome to the largest municipality of Tenerife<\/span><\/a>. Centuries-old traditions such as the famous flower and sand carpets, Las Alfombras, are celebrated here. You must also visit historic buildings such as the Casa de los Balcones with the beautiful Canarian wooden balconies<\/span><\/a>. Crowned by Mount Teide and with a rich artistic, natural and historical heritage, La Orotava is a must when visiting the north of the island.<\/span><\/p>\n

Puerto de la Cruz, a part of you<\/span><\/h2>\n

The jewel on the north coast of Tenerife<\/span><\/a> is one of the most visited places. The fishing atmosphere, walks along the seaside promenade of San Telmo, big festivals, the cozy streets and alleyways, its friendly inhabitants… All this makes Puerto de la Cruz unique… Of course, we have to mention emblematic places such as Lago Marti\u00e1nez<\/span><\/a>, a work of the artist C\u00e9sar Manrique, or Loro Parque<\/span><\/a>, which has been voted the best zoo in the world by Tripadvisor users.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are looking for natural swimming pools<\/span><\/a> formed by lava centuries ago, then Garachico<\/span><\/a> is your place to go. There was indeed an eruption of the volcano Trevejo. Much of the city has been damaged, but after reconstruction, it looks even more beautiful today than ever before. A stroll through its cobbled streets followed by a delicious meal to taste the famous cuisine with fresh fish and seafood is also a must.<\/span><\/p>\n
