Since the island has always been a centre of commerce and exchange of international culture, it influenced on the development of our archipelago. Today you can still find traces and legacies of that time. Centuries of history, architecture, contemporary and classic artworks characterise the <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/what-see\/historic-sites\/historic-quarters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">historic quarters<\/a><\/span>. Let&#8217;s go on an expedition, because today we introduce you to some of these beautiful must-see places.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Historic District of La Laguna<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.webtenerife.com\/elblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/La-Laguna.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3808\" src=\"http:\/\/www.webtenerife.com\/elblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/La-Laguna.jpg\" alt=\"San Crist\u00f3bal La Laguna\" width=\"1295\" height=\"552\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It is actually a must to start our list with the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The historic centre of <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">La Laguna<\/span> is one of the most visited in Tenerife. On the one hand because of the special atmosphere that is breathed in its streets and on the other hand because of its monuments, churches and cozy corners. Visit the site or simply enjoy the &#8220;La Laguna vibes\u201c of the university city, open to culture, commerce and arts.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of the island<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.webtenerife.com\/elblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Santa-Cruz-de-Tenerife.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3809\" src=\"http:\/\/www.webtenerife.com\/elblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Santa-Cruz-de-Tenerife.jpg\" alt=\"Santa Cruz de Tenerife\" width=\"1089\" height=\"726\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/tenerife\/the-island\/municipalities\/santa-cruz-tenerife\/?tab=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">A cosmopolitan city<\/span><\/a> where avant-garde and history go hand in hand to create unique urban spaces. Centuries-old traditions such as the famous flower and sand carpets, Las Alfombras, are celebrated here. You must also visit historic buildings such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/tenerife\/the-island\/municipalities\/orotava\/places-interest\/casa-balcones.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Casa de los Balcones with the beautiful Canarian wooden balconies<\/span><\/a>. There was indeed an eruption of the volcano Trevejo. Much of the city has been damaged, but after reconstruction, it looks even more beautiful today than ever before.
