The 2020 Tenerife\nCarnival is just around the corner and, as always, is going to be full of great\nmoments. If you\u2019re in a hurry or don\u2019t know the dates, don\u2019t worry. It is on Wednesday, February 19 and is when the 2020 Carnival Queen gets chosen. 2019\u2019s Queen, Priscila Medina Quintero, remembers it as \u201can unforgettable night, something I will always remember and if I could, I would repeat again\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hardly surprising, as the Carnival Queen leads\nthe <strong>Announcement Parade, <\/strong>the first major street event which, this year,\nis on Friday, February 21 at 8:00 p.m. Decorated floats and cars parade along\nthe streets, watched by crowds waiting to see the new Queen and her\nBridesmaids. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"690\" height=\"461\" src=\"http:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Comparsa-Carnaval-de-Tenerife-690x461.png\" alt=\"Comparsa Tenerife Carnival \" class=\"wp-image-3098\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Comparsa-Carnaval-de-Tenerife-690x461.png 690w, https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Comparsa-Carnaval-de-Tenerife-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Comparsa-Carnaval-de-Tenerife-768x513.png 768w, https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Comparsa-Carnaval-de-Tenerife.png 891w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The next day, on February 22, carnival returns\nto the street for the <strong>Comparsas Rhythm and Harmony contest<\/strong>. The troupe\u2019s\nbatucada drumming and colourful costumes fill Francisco la Roche Avenue with\nnoise and fun. Last year\u2019s winners, \u201cLos Joroperos\u201d along with director\nFernando Hern\u00e1ndez, received the prize thanks to their \u201cwork of many years,\nsacrifices and discipline, but also, great enthusiasm\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first carnival weekend closes with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webtenerife.com\/que-hacer\/carnaval\/carnaval-dia\/\"><strong>Day<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webtenerife.com\/que-hacer\/carnaval\/carnaval-dia\/\"><strong> <\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webtenerife.com\/que-hacer\/carnaval\/carnaval-dia\/\"><strong>Carnival<\/strong><\/a> which begins at 1:00 p.m. on\nSunday, February 23. It is a good opportunity for families and other people who\nwant to celebrate during the day, and lasts well &nbsp;into the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The great week of Carnival<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The main\ncarnival week starts on Monday, February 24 with an intense street party where\neveryone dresses up, dances and enjoys themselves late into the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"690\" height=\"461\" src=\"http:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Carnaval-en-la-Calle-Tenerife-690x461.png\" alt=\"Tenerife Carnival in the streets \" class=\"wp-image-3099\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Carnaval-en-la-Calle-Tenerife-690x461.png 690w, https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Carnaval-en-la-Calle-Tenerife-300x201.png 300w, https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Carnaval-en-la-Calle-Tenerife-768x513.png 768w, https:\/\/www.webtenerife.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Carnaval-en-la-Calle-Tenerife.png 884w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The next\nday, Tuesday, February 26, the <strong>Coso Apoteosis of the Carnival <\/strong>is the\nhigh point of the festivities with a huge parade where everyone participates:\nMurgas, Queens, Comparsas, carnival troupes &#8230; All come together at one of the\nmost anticipated and attended events of the whole carnival. It starts at 4:00\np.m. on Francisco La Roche and Maritima Avenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The end of the Carnival<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El <strong>Burial\nof the Sardine <\/strong>on Wednesday, February 26 is one of the most comical\nmoments, with widows and mourners attending the symbolic burial of &#8220;Don\nCarnal&#8221;. It is the final event of the official carnival holiday season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However,\nthe icing on the cake is that the street party isn\u2019t quite over yet. There\u2019s a\nDay Carnival on Saturday, February 29 and a final hurrah on Sunday March 1st\nwith the <strong>Grand Carnival Party End 2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you got the important dates in the diary?
