Although it is unusual for the temperature in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to drop below 20 degrees, fiction has turned it into frozen Norwegian coastlines and even the Antarctic. To achieve this, the semi-submergible hotel platform Floatel Reliance, with a capacity for 500 crew members and a deck spanning 1,300 square metres, has been fundamental. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its arrival in Tenerife, in principle for repairs, took place in 2016. Since then, this extraordinary location in Spain, which was conceived to provide support for oil extraction works, owned by the Swedish company Floatel Internacional, has been appropriated by CANARSHIP, which currently offers it as a location for all kinds of filming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vessel has a telescopic walkway so that the customer\u2019s staff can move between the float and the host installation. A heliport, two cranes on deck, a large rest area, a hospital area, along with workshops and storerooms support the logistics, construction and storage activities of its habitual users. This site is also available for the filming carried out there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not normal to find a film-set with industrial characteristics of this type in our country. Or even in Europe. What is true is that it has certain characteristics that, as happened in the Spanish productions with an international scope like \u2018The Head\u2019 (HBO) and \u2018Money Heist\u2019 (Netflix), its large deck and hundreds of cabins, its large recreation areas, lounges and dining room, gymnasium, cybercafe and cinema have made it attractive for certain film sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the vessel Floatel Reliance waits to return to service in Tenerife, in the care of its agent CANARSHIP, it remains attractive for new film sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
