Two restaurants have both obtained their first Michelin star, a distinction that recognises their exceptional cuisine, which combines flavours, colours and textures with island roots. These restaurants are the <strong>Hayd\u00e9e by V\u00edctor Su\u00e1rez<\/strong>, in the northern town of La Orotava, and <strong>Taste 1973<\/strong>, under the direction of <strong>Diego Schattenhofer<\/strong> at the Hotel Villa Cort\u00e9s in Arona. The Michelin Guide gala was held at the International Convention Centre Auditorium in Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A native of La Orotava, <strong>V\u00edctor Su\u00e1rez<\/strong> shows in his cuisine the <strong>creativity<\/strong> that characterises him through two menus, Atl\u00e1ntico and Ra\u00edz, which update the island\u2019s recipe book. His personality is reflected through his palate, which he links, to perfection, with <strong>the memories of his childhood and the air of other cultures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the southern side of the island, Taste 1973 is led by <strong>Diego Schattenhofer<\/strong>, an Argentinian chef in Tenerife who defines his cuisine with the phrase<strong> \u201cwe don\u2019t create recipes, we create emotions\u201d<\/strong>. With a full Canarian presence in his dishes, <strong>his technique and multidisciplinary team<\/strong>, including marine biologists, neurologists and historians, are combined with <strong>the island\u2019s indigenous roots<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With these two new recognitions, Tenerife now has <strong>nine Michelin stars <\/strong>in seven restaurants. This comprises the M.B and Kabuki restaurants, both at The Ritz Carlton Abama, which have two stars and one star respectively; the El Rinc\u00f3n de Juan Carlos and the San H\u00f4, both at the Royal Hideaway Corales hotel in Costa Adeje; the Nub, located in Bah\u00eda del Duque; and now both Taste 1973 and Hayd\u00e9e by V\u00edctor Su\u00e1rez, all with one star.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The high quality of Tenerife\u2019s gastronomy has been reflected in the most prestigious culinary awards: Michelin stars; the Bib Gourmand award; Michelin Plate award; and the Spanish Repsol Sun Award, to name a few, of which the island\u2019s culinary offer has been presented with since the beginning of the 2000s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tenerife\u2019s gastronomy scene continues to shine.
