The shooting of the feature film Las Mantis, director D\u00eddac Gimeno’s first film, began in Madrid in August. Since 19 August, the crew has been filming in the town of Los Silos, in Tenerife, for 5 weeks. The shooting phase of the feature film will finish at the end of September with a week of shooting in Murcia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Produced by Mgc<\/a>, led by Patrick Bencomo and Rafael \u00c1lvarez, together with El M\u00e9dano Producciones, Wild Lemon Films and Argentina’s Motoneta Cine. The film has the support of the Regional Government of the Canary Islands, the I.C.A.A., the Argentinean I.N.C.A.A. and the programme Ibermedia. It has also undergone a long development process in laboratories and events such as: Fantasolab, Blood Window, Bif Market, Abycine, Mallorca Talents Lab and Molins de Rei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las Mantis<\/em><\/strong> is a fantasy film that tells the story of Aitana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After her mother’s death, Aitana spends the summer at her aunt and uncle’s country house. There, she meets her cousin Lope, an introverted boy obsessed with ghosts. One night, after an intense argument between the two, Aitana gets lost in the woods. The sudden encounter with her spirit guide leads her to discover a fantasy world, a world that finally helps her understand the loss of her mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filmed in S16mm, the film stars Venecia Franco, Iv\u00e1n Garc\u00eda, Ruth D\u00edaz, Mar\u00eda Caballero, Jos\u00e9 Luis Garc\u00eda P\u00e9rez, Jorge Bosch, Juan Carlos Tacoronte and Roberto Kuzmanich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mgc is currently involved in various projects. In post-production, it is working on the feature films Semillas <\/em><\/strong>and Simbiontes<\/em><\/strong>, both in co-production with Colombia. In pre-production, it is working on Quemacoches<\/em><\/strong>, a feature film co-production with Argentina. Las mantis<\/em><\/strong> and the documentary Pescadores del desierto<\/em><\/strong> are currently being shot. And Los gunchis y la ciudad perdida, Un largo camino a casa<\/em><\/strong>, the animated series La saga del sur<\/em><\/strong> and several other projects are currently being developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
