As a novelty, <strong>4% of the investment corresponds to exclusively post-production projects<\/strong>, which shows that audiovisual activity in Tenerife is evolving and the digital post-production sector is gaining relevance compared to previous years, which mobilizes a different type of resources to filming on the island and creates new employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The filming of feature films, series and advertising, together with animation productions generated a total of <strong>3,692<\/strong> <strong>new hires <\/strong>for technical and artistic positions, which is 12.52% more than in 2023, and <strong>4,927 new hires for extras and background actors.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By type of production, Tenerife hosted in 2024 up to <strong>11 fiction feature films<\/strong>. There was a notable increase in the number of<strong> fiction series for television<\/strong>, <strong>which rose to a total of 14 <\/strong>compared to 6 the previous year. <strong>5 television programmes<\/strong> were recorded, as well as<strong> 5 documentaries <\/strong>and <strong>3 documentary series<\/strong>. In parallel, <strong>36 advertising spots<\/strong> and <strong>43 photo shoots<\/strong> were produced. In terms of <strong>post-production-only projects<\/strong>, 6 were counted. Of the total, there were 4 post-production projects for fiction series and 2 post-production projects for feature films. It was also awarded the <strong>Tenerife Film Commission&#8217;s seal of sustainable audiovisual production<\/strong> in 2024, thanks to the successful implementation of the Sustainability Plan. <strong>&#8216;Under the volcano&#8217; <\/strong>(with original title &#8216;Pod wulkanem&#8217;) is another Polish-born auteur film filmed on the island and was nominated to compete for the <strong>Oscars 2025 as Best Foreign Film<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2024 was definitely the year of volcano stories. Among the national feature films that the island has hosted in 2024 are <strong>&#8216;Bajo un volc\u00e1n<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>by Secuoya Studios and \u00c1lamo Producciones, which had the services of Riverflow Pictures. A romantic comedy that unfolds amidst the threat of a volcanic eruption in Garachico, starring actor William Levy. <strong>&#8216;Solos&#8217;<\/strong> is a dramatic comedy, based on the play of the same name by Paloma Bravo, directed by the <strong>Tenerife director Guillermo R\u00edos<\/strong> and produced by Eduardo Campoy, director of \u00c1lamo Producciones and head of the Cinema Department at Secuoya Studios. The local services of Riverflow Pictures were provided. Mention should be made of the feature film <strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong>Las mantis<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> co-produced by MGC de Tenerife, director D\u00eddac Gimeno&#8217;s debut feature, and <strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong>Islas<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong>, a feature film directed by Marina Seresesky, which was shot on location in El Puerto de la Cruz. This is a production by E-media Canary, with AF Films, Match Point, Meridional Producciones and BTF Media, which marks the return to the big screen of actress and singer Ana Bel\u00e9n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the<strong> TV series<\/strong>, the Swedish production <strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong>Helicopter Heist<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong> for Netflix<\/strong>, with the production services of <strong>Volcano Films<\/strong>, stands out.The second season of the BBC series &#8216;<strong>The Gold&#8217;<\/strong> and the German series <strong>&#8216;F\u00fcr immer Sommer&#8217;<\/strong> whose plot is based on a crime that is committed in Tenerife and was taken care of by the production company <strong>Seven Islands Film<\/strong>. Notable Spanish series include Secuoya Studios\u2018 <strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong>Arcadia<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong> and MediaPro Studios\u2019 <strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong>The Head<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong>, which returned to the island to film its third season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, local catering companies, camera rentals, lighting equipment, vehicles, machinery, sound, DITs and film-friendly hotels worked on these productions. Most of them associated with Tenerife Film Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visual effects (VFX) of the fourth season of <strong>&#8216;The Outer Banks&#8217;<\/strong> were carried out in Tenerife, thanks to the work of the company <strong>22Dogs VFX<\/strong>, while the VFX studio <strong>Flaming Frames<\/strong> made, among others, those of the series <strong>&#8216;Nine bodies in a Mexican Morgue&#8217;.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of advertising, the island was the setting for the filming of several commercials for brands such as <strong>Citroen Aircross, Giorgio Armani, Birckenstock, Zalando<\/strong> with <strong>Sarah Jessica Parker, The North Face &amp; JD Sports<\/strong>, with services provided by local production companies <strong>Volcano Films, Boudika Productions, Solworks and Twentyfour-seven<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Animation <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The animation sector in Tenerife left a balance of <strong>14 projects completed<\/strong> in 2024. In addition, work was carried out on 11 multiannual projects. With <strong>19 million euros of investment<\/strong>, productions of this type accounted for 32% of total investment in the audiovisual sector in 2024, compared to 18% in the previous year. Likewise, animation productions generated a total of <strong>1099 new jobs<\/strong>, 64.76% more than in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the main animation productions is the acclaimed <strong>&#8216;Mariposas Negras&#8217;<\/strong>. This feature film, directed by David Baute and produced by Tinglado Films, Ikiru Films and Anangu, has won the Forqu\u00e9 Awards, the Gaud\u00ed Awards and is competing in the race for the Goya 2025 along with the animated family comedy<strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong>Superklaus<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong> in co-production with the animation studio 3Doubles Producciones. Both are nominated for <strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong>Best Animated Film<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong> at the Goya Awards 2025. <\/strong>3Doubles also finished its feature film <strong>&#8216;Helen&#8217;. <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the reboot of the series <strong>&#8216;Dora la exploradora&#8217;<\/strong>, for the first time in 3D and in which the Tenerife animation studio Tomavision participated through Pipeline Studios. Likewise, the films <strong>&#8216;Furrytales: Caterella&#8217;<\/strong> and <strong>&#8216;The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie&#8217; by Warner Bros and Tonic DNA<\/strong>, both featured by Tomavision\u2019s services. The Canarian company BWater Studios created &#8216;<strong>Kayara&#8217;<\/strong>, in co-production with Tunche Films, in Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tenerife Film Commission Balance Sheet<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than <strong>80 companies associated<\/strong> with the Tenerife Film Commission work regularly on local, national and international productions that are developed on the island. In addition to production companies or service companies, the companies include VFX studios, as well as digital image laboratories, sound, production material, camera rental, lighting equipment, machinery, hotels, catering and logistics. In 2024 Palma Niru Films, Mojo Films, Palma Pictures, Kinolux Canarias, Flaming Frames, SunnySideUp, Hotel Bot\u00e1nico, Sholeo Lodges Los Gigantes, Hotel Barcel\u00f3 Tenerife, Autos Plaza, Rims Mobility and Grupo Jes\u00fas Rodr\u00edguez joined the TFC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its location scouting function, the Film Commission made<strong> 6 location and inspection visits to the island <\/strong>last year, one of which led to the filming of the project. In addition, TFC organised <strong>6 familiarisation trips to Tenerife<\/strong> for production managers, with a total of <strong>135 participants.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The TFC team also attended and collaborated on numerous events and festivals in 2024. In Tenerife, the Commission was present at the Quirino Awards for Ibero-American Animation, sponsored by Turismo de Tenerife, FICMEC; CIIF MARKET; Isla Calavera and IslaBentura Canarias. Abroad, TFC attended <strong>11 events,<\/strong> including Cannes Lions, Series Man\u00eda, Shooting Location Marketplace, Mipcom, San Sebastian Festival, MIFA or Kidscreen, with a total of<strong> 109 meetings with industry representatives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, in relation to training, TFC developed <strong>8 training workshops<\/strong>, which were attended by<strong> 145 trainees in total.<\/strong> Emphasis should be placed on technical specialisation courses in Movie Magic Budgeting and<em> Movie Magic Schedulling<\/em> software and in subjects such as VFX and post-production coordination and specific roles on filmings such as assistant director, <em>location scout <\/em>or ecomanager.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the data collected by Tenerife Film Commission, the audiovisual productions that took place in Tenerife left a total of 65 million euros in 2024.
