The Tenerife studio B Water Studios<\/a> has announced the premiere of Kayara<\/em>, its most recent animated production, which has been in theatres in Spain since 30 April. This film represents a milestone in animation between Spain and the Americas, combining an inspiring narrative with a meticulous recreation of the cultural legacy of the Inca Empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Codirected by C\u00e9sar Zelada and Dirk Hampel, <\/strong>Kayara<\/em> tells the story of a 16-year-old girl who defies the norms of her time by aspiring to become one of the chasqui<\/em>, the official messengers of the Inca, a role traditionally reserved for men. Accompanied by her faithful guinea pig, Wari, the titular character embarks on a journey full of personal and cultural challenges, in a story that celebrates perseverance, female empowerment and respect for tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film is the result of a collaboration between Peru and Spain. <\/strong>In Peru, the design of characters, scenes and narrative construction were carried out, while Tenerife, Spain, was the site of the modelling, sound mixing and final packaging. This synergy has made it possible to combine cultural authenticity with the highest technical standards of production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a technical point of view, Kayara<\/em> stands out for its use of the animation software Blender and for a soundtrack performed by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> and a score by the Spanish composer Toni M. Mir. In addition, the film incorporates songs in Quechua performed by Peruvian artist Renata Flores, enriching the listening experience and reinforcing its cultural connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After its world premiere in Ukraine<\/strong> on 2 January 2025, Kayara<\/em> continued its international tour with openings in Peru on 6 March and in the United States on 30 March. Since then, the film has been warmly received by critics and audiences, strengthening the position of B Water Studios as a benchmark in the animation landscape, and as a company committed to cultural diversity and universal storytelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
