The new four‑star film-friendly hotel occupies a building originally designed by Tenerife architect Félix Sáenz Marrero, whose work epitomises the rationalist style that shaped the islands’ architectural identity in the mid‑20th century. Conceived as an eight‑storey residential block, the building is defined by the restraint of its lines and the geometric clarity of its layout—hallmarks of a movement that prized function, proportion and timeless elegance.

Set on Santa Cruz’s emblematic Rambla, alongside García Sanabria Park, the hotel offers 135 rooms 135 rooms designed to accommodate technical and artistic crews from any audiovisual production, as well as guests seeking an urban stay. Facilities include a state‑of‑the‑art fitness area, three distinct dining venues celebrating local gastronomy, and a series of flexible spaces designed to host meetings and corporate events with ease.

Gastronomy stands as one of the cornerstones of the Barceló Santa Cruz Contemporáneo project and one of the most significant milestones of its reopening. At the heart of the hotel is Sanabria Típicamente Santa Cruz, its à la carte restaurant led by the Padrón brothers—leading figures in contemporary Canarian haute cuisine. Here, they unveil their first urban gastronomic concept in Santa Cruz, embracing a more relaxed, accessible format without sacrificing culinary excellence.

Completing the transformation is B·Heaven Macusamba, the hotel’s rooftop venue, conceived as a place to experience Santa Cruz as day turns to evening. Blending leisure, social life and sweeping panoramic views, the space is open to both hotel guests and the wider public.

This elevated setting is also home to the hotel’s new swimming pool: an exclusive, serene enclave designed for disconnection, with the city unfolding below. The experience is further enriched by Breeze, a fresh and creative food offering tailored to after‑work gatherings and social encounters, alongside a signature cocktail programme curated by Yoni Mesa—Spain’s 2023 Long Drink Champion (ABT/FABE) and finalist at the World Cocktail Championship Madeira 2024. Together, these elements position B·Heaven Macusamba as one of the capital’s most compelling new social destinations.

Barceló Santa Cruz Contemporáneo reopened its doors with a clear ambition: to stand as a contemporary reference point for Canarian rationalist architecture.
