Winter is here, and so is the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands (FIMC) – a classic event for the past four decades. This year’s Festival – number 39 – will introduce new orchestras and musicians. In addition, there will be side concerts in several venues, grouped under the special event title Festival en paralelo.

Moreover, many of the works will be performed for the first time in the context of FIMC this year. The Festival will come to a close with a concert by the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, who will offer a special – and quite challenging – repertoire.

Other FIMC concerts this year include those by the BBC Philharmonic, the Bamberg Symphony, the orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. To them we should add local ensembles like the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and the Gran Canaria Philharmonic. As to individual musicians, FIMC will welcome conductors Ton Koopman and Andrés Orozco-Estrada back, and Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov for the first time.
