6th Romí Flamenco Festival
This year’s sixth Romí Flamenco Festival showcases the role of women, through this Tribute to gypsy women Pativ e Rromnjaqe The Festival opens on 10 January at 8.30pm with a performance by María Toldeo, the image of current flamenco. She is the first woman in the history of flamenco to sing accompanied by only herself at the piano. A law graduate and holder of a Conservatoire Diploma, she gave up law to devote herself to music, which is her lifelong passion. On 12 January at 9pm, the Guimerá Theatre’s stage will welcome artists of the stature of María Terremoto, Alba Heredia, La Tana, Jorge Pardo, Josemi Carmona, Bandolero, David de Jacoba, Diego Morao, Aroa Fernández and Carles Benavent.
