The former Convent of Santo Domingo in San Cristóbal de La Laguna is housing an exhibition by sculptress Agael León, showing a series of replicas made with traditional crafting methods.

The thirty sculptures that make Ancestras tell thousands of stories from different cultures while illustrating a single thing: the energy of women. Ancestras sheds light on the ancestral memory of women and their role in matriarchal societies, where they exercise power and are the source of spiritual life.

Ancestras takes a look at anonymous women, female creators who have left images of themselves for generations to come, immortalised in crafting materials like clay.
