Corpus Christi in Tenerife 2023

From mid-May to June, several towns in Tenerife celebrate Corpus Christi, one of the island’s longest-standing religious traditions. Drawing locals and out-of-towners alike, Corpus Christi can be enjoyed in towns like La Orotava, La Laguna, Santa Cruz, Guía de Isora, El Sauzal, Adeje, Los Silos and Tacoronte, among others.

The programme in each town includes a wide range of activities involving families, associations, schools and other groups. Highlights include St Isidore the Farmer and Our Lady of the Head’s Festival, religious processions, the Holy Communion, and the Flower Carpets that cover some of the streets in most towns. On the evening before Corpus Christi, the carpet makers design and make their carpets right on the floors to be covered by them, working through the wee hours.
