Deliverance of Tegueste 2019

This festival, dating back to the seventeenth century, is rooted in the traditions to thank the patron saints for delivering the town from the plague or from pirate attacks. Locals in folk costumes re-enact country and religious scenes, as soldiers march down the streets to the captain’s house. Suddenly, battle ensues between the pirates from the boats and the guards in the castle in a spectacular light and sound show.
