Considered one of the most important works of Spain’s Zarzuela (light opera), this became a much-imitated model within the genre. Doña Francisquita by Amadeo Vives is a lyric comedy in three acts, with a libretto by Federico Romero and Guillermo Fernández-Shaw. Based on Lope de Vega’s comedy In Love but Discreet, it premiered in Madrid’s Teatro Apolo on 17 October 1923.
