Our Lady of Candelaria Festival

Our Lady of Candelaria, Patroness of the Canary Islands, has Her earliest festival of the year celebrated on 2 February. It is a major holiday in Tenerife, with several religious and secular activities.

Most activities take place in the Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria and the square next to it, Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias. They go on from late January to the Feast of St Blaise on 3 February. They are organised by the Dominican Friars’ Community with the support of the Town of Candelaria, which also organises cultural activities for the Festival.
