HANSEL AND GRETEL (HUMPERDINCK)

Based on the children’s story by the Brothers Grimm, Hansel and Gretel tells the story of a brother and sister who get lost in the forest as they are out picking strawberries. A world of chocolate and sweet houses, witches, creatures of the forest and, above all, loads of fantasy to thrill the youngest members of the family, who will delight in a funny and familiar production that speaks to their imagination. The score combines popular songs and others of a more operatic nature which are delightfully handled by Humperdinck in a delicate language that steers clear of monotony and repetition. A masterpiece that will surprise many in the audience, despite being one of the most widely staged works in English-speaking countries.
