After a 5-year period in which she kept total silence, a mother – played by Nuria Espert – dies and leaves an envelope to each of her twin children. As of this point, the audience witnesses a search for traces of a life tinged by war and neglect, in which political and human tragedy merge in a terrifying story. With this play, author Wajdi Mouawad ignited with unprecedented intensity the hearts of audiences in many countries. Mouawad lights fires, the fires of the fabulous phoenix birds that rise from their own ashes. Incendios talks of this rebirth, of fires for which seeds need to be planted at times, of the terrible road which we often need to travel to find our inner selves. Mario Gas assembles an extraordinary cast of actors for the premiere in Spain and in Spanish of this key work of the 21st century.
