Bajada de las Hayas 2023

In the context of Our Lady of Hope’s Festival, on the second Saturday in August, the town of La Guancha hosts a traditional event known as “Bajada de las Hayas”.

Over the years, this event has become one of the highlights of the town’s big festival. Hundreds of local residents wearing traditional clothes go to the mountains for beech tree hunting, gathering beech branches and twigs. When they come down to town, they use the beech trees to decorate the streets that will be part of Our Lady of Hope’s Procession.
