Lola del Castillo (A Retrospective 1978-2022)

The rooms dedicated to the arts at Cabrera Pinto High School are housing a retrospective of local artist Lola del Castillo’s work. Del Castillo began painting in the 1970s. Like many artists who were part of the avant-garde renewal led by the Conca gallery, in those early years, she explored experimental painting.

Staged by the Department of Culture of the Canary Islands, this retrospective shows a selection of Del Castillo’s works from different periods: from her early drawings along the lines of realism to her inventive use of etching techniques; from geometric metapainting to spatial, urban art to the latest work, where the artist captures the most amazing elements of nature around her – a tree, the sea, etc. – on canvas.
