Female models. Women of Fashion 1850-1940
The women featured in the pictures of this exhibition and the photographers who took them depict different alternatives in the use of images as unequivocal testimony to what was considered fashionable in a society in which, from the mid-19th century to the early part of the 20th century, women were witnesses to - and at the same time active subjects of - fashion. The photos illustrate the changing nature of women through the concept of fashion and how this is reflected in the iconological world of the stage, culture, art and society generally. All this is described from the perspective of the new role played by female models.
