Chamber Orchestra of the Canary Islands

On 4 June, the Chamber Orchestra of the Canary Islands (OCC) will be performing at the Guimerá Theatre. The two-part concert will include works by Agustín Ramos, Mozart and Tchaikovsky.

The OCC was established in August 1935 with the support of the Provincial Music School in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The Orchestra’s first performance was in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in November 1935. For the first thirty-one years, the OCC’s chief conductor was Santiago Sabina, the recipient of the Santa Cruz Silver Medal in August in 1952. On 18 November 1960, the OCC also got the Silver Medal from the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Town Council.
