Film screenings: Madalena

The Conference Hall at the Tenerife Arts Space (TEA) is welcoming Madalena, the first film by young Brazilian director Madiano Marcheti. Widely acclaimed in San Sebastián, Biarritz and Rotterdam, the film begins with the lifeless body of a transgender person in the agrarian region of Mato Grosso, where the filmmaker grew up.

It then follows three protagonists in turn, Luziane, Cristiano and Bianca, all living in the same rural area. They do not know one another, but are all in some way connected through Madalena, the person found dead.

The film, recommended for audiences over 12, will be screened in the original version in Portuguese with Spanish subtitles.
