In San Juan de la Rambla they celebrate St John’s Eve with a long-standing tradition: Sonadas de San Juan, one of the most spectacular St John’s Eve celebrations. Pilgrims dressed in white come down the crag of Mazapé blowing their conch shells and using torches to light the road ahead.

Conch shells, locally known as bucios, were used by the Guanche aboriginals to communicate.
