St Mark’s Country Fair

The town of Tegueste celebrates its Country Fair (Romería) in honour of its patron saint, St Mark. The streets are thronged with ox-drawn carts decorated with local farming products, floats in the form of large boats, folk groups from across the Canaries, herds and flocks of animals, and thousands of participants who turn out in traditional dress to accompany the statue of the saint.
