St Benedict’s Procession and Festival 2023

Every year in July, San Cristóbal de La Laguna hosts one of its most important events: St Benedict’s Procession and Festival, a World Heritage event.

Celebrations begin in late June, with the so-called “rondas a San Benito”. The programme includes several activities and reaches its climax with the procession. Designated as a Fiesta of National Tourist Interest, the feast of St Benedict, Abbot, in La Laguna is one of the finest examples of this kind of religious festivals in Tenerife. The men and women who join the procession wear traditional Canarian costumes, sing traditional songs and hand out traditional food.
