Tejina Hearts’ Festival 2019

The Hearts’ Festival is an event in folk culture, held on the occasion of the feast of St Bartholomew in the last week of August.

It is a colourful, striking festival, where people carry a cross bearing two wooden hearts where people add flowers, fruit and flour flat cakes.

Designated as an Asset of Cultural Interest, the Hearts’ Festival has been held for more than a century. The hearts can weigh as much as 900 kilos and be up to 12 metres high.
