Tenerife Walking Festival

One of Europe’s leading walking events, open to hikers from across the continent, the Tenerife Walking Festival combines routes through Tenerife’s most spectacular scenery and a range of original and attractive parallel activities. Once again, respect for the environment is the hallmark of the event. New aspects this year include an increase in the number of hiking routes (20), which include some of Tenerife’s most impressive trails. Participants will have the chance to venture into unique areas such as the Teno and Anaga Natural Parks (the latter a Biosphere Reserve), and the Mt Teide National Park, which is a Unesco World Heritage Site. In addition to the actual walks, the Festival features public talks by leading Spanish and international speakers on topics relating to hiking, mountaineering and nature. On Saturday 27 May, the town of Puerto de la Cruz (once again the official headquarters) will host the end of Festival party, with local food-tasting, live cooking demonstrations and an attractive active tourism fair.
