Torch Festival

This tradition, brought back to life in 2011, pays tribute to the residents of the upper part of San Juan de la Rambla and the adjacent municipalities, who used to climb down the Sendero del Barranco Ruiz to join the festivities in La Rambla.

They carried torches to light their way at night. With time, their descent became a tradition, especially when they reached the town square and blew their torches, producing the smoke that today’s festival is associated with.
