We discover Beethoven in his 30s with two works that sound like a farewell to the Viennese classicism of Mozart and Haydn, and a prelude to his energetic 3rd and radical 5th Symphonies. The works already provided a glimpse of arguably his main characteristic: the union between light and darkness, like life itself.
