The conference centre in Adeje was inaugurated in 2005. The building is the work of local architects Felipe Artengo Rufino, Fernando Martín Menis and José María Rodríguez-Pastrana. The spectacular curves on the roof of the Magma Centre are inspired by the waves of the sea and held up by twelve columns made of concrete and the chasnera stone that is so typical of southern Tenerife. The venue was built as a conference and events centre, an exhibition hall and a setting for all kinds of concerts thanks to the various areas inside it and its mobile panels enabling different layouts. The centre covers 22,000 m2 (5.4 acres) and is provided with natural light and ventilation thanks to a series of north-facing skylights.
