Casa Lercaro in La Orotava

A historic monument in northern Tenerife

The house of Lercaro has been classed as an Asset of Cultural Interest in the Monument category. This 17th century mansion is located at number 7 Calle Colegio, right in the heart of La Villa de La Orotava's historic quarter.

It belonged to a noble family from that time: Ponte, Lugo, Grimaldi, Fonte and Rizo. A sample of its heraldry is the family coat of arms, which can be seen carved in marble over the window on the third floor, representing the identity and social recognition of families and their kinship

The house has a U-shaped layout and an east-facing façade on one of the side wings. The main façade can be seen from Calle Colegios, where the balconies on the second and third floors are noteworthy with their Baroque style decorations.

Careful attention has been paid to all the house's details, from the main structure to the motifs engraved on the doors and windows. And many of these details are also put to good use, as is the case of the latticed windows installed without glass for better ventilation.

This mansion embodies the essence of Canarian tradition, with its magnificent architecture, impressive size and the exquisite taste involved in refurbishing each of its rooms. This unique building with its spectacular patios, gardens and balconies also contains a wealth of textile wonders.

It also houses a permanent antique and replica furniture exhibition, and provides guaranteed quality and distinction for all who wish to buy its decorative elements, gifts or a lovely souvenir of their stay on the Island.

The house has a surface area of 3,240 m2 (0.8 acre), of which the building covers more than one third. The rest of the land is for the vegetable garden and annexes. Its vast rooms are also a great venue for large gatherings such as business dinners, weddings, christenings and conferences.
