Mariano de Cossío

Though born in Valladolid (in mainland Spain) in 1890, much of this painter's work involved teaching and painting in Tenerife. His murals are renowned for their pathetism and Mexican-influenced expressiveness, with certain Zurbaran traits. Nowadays, some of those murals can be seen hanging in the church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán and in the Paraninfo hall at the University of La Laguna.
