Almost all of the islands in the archipelago house religious-themed works by the sculptor Sebastián Fernández, who was born in San Cristóbal de La Laguna in 1700. He was the son and grandson of artists, and the sculptures of San Pedro Papa that he made for several Canarian Catholic churches are among his most famous works. Another recurring theme in his work are angels, with special mention of the four angels adorning a scene of La Inmaculada Concepción and the Archangel San Rafael that he made for the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción in Santa Cruz, as well as the angels in the parish of Santa Ana in Garachico.
